Edward Menchaca
Edward Menchaca, age 65 passed away peacefully Thursday January 14, 2021 at A1 Residential Care Center in Placentia. He was born June 14,1955 in Los Angeles. He is the third son of Senaido (Nayo) and Henrietta (Kay) Menchaca. He is a 1973 graduate of Whittier High School. He worked as a Quality Control Inspector in the Aerospace industry for over 25 years. He was passionate about ensuring the work he inspected met all specifications. He would frequently talk about the jobs he inspected and how he helped to make improvements. Next to his family and friends he loved fishing and animals. In his youth he brought home several odd creatures; a snake, iguana, tadpoles we caught in the San Gabriel River that grew into frogs and subsequently were jumping around our garden for a while, domestic rats and a guinea pig. In recent years he seemed to be happiest sitting on the bank of a lake fishing with his sister Julie and brother Rick or jumping on an overnight boat and landing a nice yellowtail or yellow fin tuna.
Out of love and respect for Edward’s large extended family, during the COVID-19 pandemic, services will not be held at this time. The family has asked anyone who would like, post your thoughts and memories of our loving brother on this site

One thing about my brother Ed that most people don’t know is that he was an excellent cook. He particularly enjoyed cooking what he caught on a fishing trip for those he cared about. If you didn’t get stuck with the cleanup duties, any of his fresh seafood meals was always a treat. I’ll always remember his joyful, animated behavior as he created the meal. He introduced me to huachinango a la Veracruz and grilled octopus, both absolutely delicious! Thanks, Ed! I’ll never be able to eat either of these dishes without thinking of you. Give me a tortilla. Got beans, Mom? Julie recently sent me a pic of Ed. In his arms were 2 beautiful red snappers he must have just pulled out of the ocean right behind him. That will be my memory of Edward. May Mom, Dad and Edward take your rightful place and rest in the arms of Eternal Light. Will see you in God’s time.
