Judith Karen Westin (nee Stegmeier ) passed away on December 7, 2023, in Orange County, California. She was a loving wife and mother of two children. She was born May 14, 1941 and was raised by William and Ann Stegmeier in Wood Dale, Illinois. Judy enjoyed going to local parks, state and national parks, and other natural areas with her family. One of her favorite trips was a Spring or Fall trip to her father’s cabin in Northern Wisconsin with her family.

She is survived by her husband Philip, son Tom, daughter Anne Hassett and son-in-law, Jeff Hassett. She is also survived by her seven nieces and nephews, children of her deceased brother, William Stegmeier

Guestbook

  1. I wish to express my sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Judy. God cares about your grief and tears. One Bible writer said to God: “Do collect my tears in your skin bottle. Are they not recorded in your book?” – Psalm 56:8
Remember, while the void you feel in your heart may not disappear, with God’s tender help, you can cherish you memories of her and you can still enjoy warm friendships and a purposeful life. And soon God will eliminate death. He wants you to be able to embrace your loved one again. Then that pain in your heart will be healed forever. The scriptures provided me and my family comfort by helping us see Gods loving plan for those who enter rest. For comfort from the Bible please visit https://bit.ly/truthlifedeath

  2. Judy, We thank you for and are honored by your life with us.
You have been a lovely and caring woman and we greatly miss you.

    Warm Thoughts about Judy:
Meeting Judy for the first time at a snowy parking lot in Chicago,
Canoeing down rivers of Illinois and Wisconsin.
    Taking courses together on wildflowers
    Visiting Kansas,
Taking our children to county fairs in Illinois,
    Laughing at her subtle humor,
    Admiring her excellent memory,
Admitting defeat when Judy would tell me one fact that showed I was wrong,
Listening to her sing in choirs,
    Enjoying her themed Christmas dinners,
Searching for a house in California,
Trips together to Colorado to take Tom to college,
Trips together to Northern California to take Anne to college,
Attending movies, plays, and operas together.

    Philip Westin

    Music, when soft voices die,
    Vibrates in the memory-
    Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves when the rose is dead,
    Are heaped for the beloved’s bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
    Love itself shall slumber on.

    Percy Bysshe Shelley
