Richard “Dick” W. Leibold, born March 22, 1927 in Astoria, New York, passed away peacefully at his home in Tustin, California on December 11, 2025. Through his journey of 98 years, he touched many lives with his unwavering optimism, wisdom, humor, and dedication to his family, friends and neighbors, co-workers, and country.

At the age of 23 Richard married Mary “Jeri” Eckersall. Their marriage was a lasting and meaningful partnership until Jeri’s passing, in 2009.

Richard proudly served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II. His service remained a point of quiet pride throughout his life. He personified the Seabee’s motto “Can Do.”

Before and after his service in the Seabees, Richard devoted himself to a career in construction, managing iconic projects, including Madison Square Gardens, the 59-story Pan Am Building, and Penn Station in New York and countless impressive buildings in California and Las Vegas until his retirement from Anning-Johnson Company at age 80.

Above all, Richard prioritized the people in his life. He was a wonderful father, father in law, grandfather, and friend. He was always available for a talk on the phone, shared bowl of clam chowder, or happy hour on his porch. Richard will be remembered for an exceptional life well lived and he will be greatly missed.

Graveside burial services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Pacific View Memorial Park Cemetery, Corona del Mar, California.

In honor of Richard’s charitable spirit and dedication to fellow veterans, the family encourages donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
